Mississippi Troops Could Get Tax Help

Deployed Mississippi National Guard and reserve members could get tax help in bills introduced this session.

One bill would give state tax exemptions on money they earned while deployed out of state.  Other legislation allows an exemption on some vehicle taxes for soldiers deployed outside the U.S.  Another introduced bill would prevent the professional licenses of guard and reserve members from expiring while they are deployed.  Last year lawmakers raised the state income tax exemption for soldiers from $5,000 to $15,000 dollars.
