Drive Thru Job Fair:  Madison the City Chamber of Commerce held this job fair for adults seeking employment.  The participating companies supplied the chamber with applications, and job descriptions that were distributed to the interested adults.

The participating companies include( but are not limited to):  WLBT, Bank Plus, Anytime Fitness, Super Limo, St. Catherine's Village, Baptist Health Systems, Trustmark Bank.

Student Internship Program

Describe Scope of Broadcasters' Participation (including names of any other sponsoring

or participating organizations):

WLBT-TV offers internships to college students as a way to assess jobs and job readiness. These internships are granted to junior and senior students majoring in Communications, Mass Communications, Journalism and Broadcast Journalism from various accredited colleges and universities throughout the U.S. who have received the approval from the Dean/Chairman and/or academic advisor of their respective department(s). Upon successful completion of the program, the student received 3-4 hours of credit and a letter grade. Students were assigned to work with specific News Department staffers.

Provide training to management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunities and preventing employment discrimination.  This training reviews each manager's responsibilities under various state and federal laws related to hiring, terminating, disciplining, etc. employees.

All managers and supervisors required to go on-line to http://www.newmedialearning.com to complete a course on "Preventing Employment Discrimination" by December 31, 2006.

Job Shadowing and Mentoring

Local high student and college student spends a day shadowing an employee to determine if that business offers a future career path for their interest.

WLBT News Reporter coordinated and accommodated the job shadow day for 3 Northwest Rankin High School students.  She instructed the 3 students here at the station in communications related topics throughout the year.
