Kentucky Reservist Dies at Camp Shelby

Tests are underway to determine why a soldier died during a training exercise Saturday at Camp Shelby.

The Forrest county coroner Butch Benedict is awaiting pathology results on the 33 year old Kentucky man found lying face down in a field.

Mississippi National Guard spokesman Tim Powell said the army reservist was on a training course practicing land navigation at the Regional Training Institute located at the base.

He was found dead after he did now show up with the rest of the soldiers at the end of the course.

Officials have not released his name pending notification of next of kin.
