Hundreds of people gather on the Ross Barnett Reservoir for Waterfest '07.
The free event kicked off this afternoon with a kayak race. There were plenty of games for the kids, good food, and music from the local blue grass band "Brooks and Baker."
Waterfest was hosted by the mill creek watershed team along with county, state, federal and other organizations. They are all working together to improve the quality of water that enters the reservoir.
"We want to raise a whole new generation of aware consumers and people who value the beautiful natural resources we have here in Mississippi and that want to be good stewards of it and take care of it," says Carol Stern, Waterfest '07 Coordinator.
Event coordinators hope waterfest will become an annual event on the reservoir.
