New Cases Of Whooping Cough

Still more cases of whooping cough are surfacing in Mississippi. This while interim state health director, Doctor Ed Thompson awaits word on assistance from the centers for disease control.

Latest figures from the office of epidemiology now show 98 cases statewide; 10 more than reported yesterday. 74 of those cases are in public health district six which is Leake, Newton, Neshoba, Winston and Lauderdale counties.

The Leake county health department will open its doors Saturday. Doctor Thompson says an alert is being sent to all doctors in the state.
