The FBI is now handling an embezzlement case in Ridgeland.
47 year old Mahalingam or Mali Shrinivas of Marina Del Ray, California was arrested earlier this week by Ridgeland Police officers.
An internal audit at Skyhawke Technologies uncovered financial irregularities.
Shrinivas was the Chief Financial Officer of the company and commuted from California for his job.
Skyhawke Technologies which is located on Commerce Street in Ridgeland produces electronic rangefinders for golfers.
Walter Weems, an attorney for the company told us by phone, this is a personnel and financial issue and the company would not be making a statement.
Police tell us Shrinivas, is suspected of embezzling as much as two million dollars over an extended period of time.
Ridgeland Police recovered about $500,000 dollars in items last week. They also recovered two luxury cars. The case has been turned over to the FBI.
"We have our own asset forfeiture team and we'll work with the Ridgeland Police Department and the District Attorney's office in trying to determine the culpability of not only the subject, but the items that were apparently acquired or purchased with funds that were potentially embezzled. But the investigation is still in its infancy and we'll have to determine that through the course of the investigation," says Assistant Special Agent Steve Gomez.
Shrinivas is still being held in the Madison County jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday.
