Storms Skirt Mississippi, Touch Alabama

Other than a few downed trees and power lines, Mississippi was spared Saturday night as a strong line of thunderstorms moved through the state. But our neighbors to the east weren't so fortunate.

Tornadoes touched down in Alabama Sunday afternoon near Montgomery. The twisters hit several communities.

In Prattville, roofs were destroyed or damaged and windows blown out. Power lines and poles were knocked down. More than 3,500 homes are without power.

Several people were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries. No deaths have been reported.
