We are closer to finding out who will be crowned Miss Mississippi 2008. This week 45 contestants have competed in preliminary competition, signed autographs, participated in the annual parade of contestants, and endured hours of rehearsals.

Maggie Wade has this wrap up of the week at Miss Mississippi.

On the first night of preliminary competition Tuesday, Corie Stanford, Miss Mississippi State University won in talent, and Miss Hinds County, Diana Strickland won in swimwear.

Wednesday a tie in talent. Miss Mississippi Coast, Marie Wicks and Miss Tupelo, Meredith Beeman were the winners. In swimwear, Miss Gulf Coast, Christine Kozlowski.

Thursday night. Two more winners. In talent Miss Magnolia Brittainy Childers singing Unchained Melody, and in swimwear, Miss Rankin County, Crystal Flores.

Friday night the contestants rode in convertibles through downtown Vicksburg in the annual parade.

Tonight the pageant begins with the announcement of the top 10. It is anybody's guess who will make the list this year. But every contestant who does, is in the running for the title of Miss Mississippi 2008.
