Some comic book lovers gathered in Jackson this weekend for the Jackson Comic Convention.
Coordinators say about 500 people showed up for Jackson's first Comic Con in over a decade. They say summer movies involving comic book characters were part of their inspiration for throwing the event this summer.
Comic con coordinators are already planning next year's event. They're coordinating with a local comic book store for the 2009 convention. They say next year's show will be bigger and better.
"It's part of american pop culture. It's been part of american history since the depression days looking for a cheap way to have an escape from society," says comic store owner Jay Long.
Admission to the convention was a dollar this year.
She said she took to the social media site to vent her frustration, never thinking the school would see her post. However, she also tagged it with the school's Facebook page.More >>
