No charges have been brought against the man who police say opened fire in Friday's double shooting and homicide.
Jackson Police are not releasing the shooter's name. But they say he was questioned and released and that the investigation is ongoing.
The fatal shooting happened around 6 p.m. In the middle of the street in the two thousand block of Barrett Avenue.
30-year-old Romond Jenkins of Jackson was shot multiple times and died at the scene.
35-year-old Timothy Vaughn was also shot in the leg and taken to Baptist Hospital . A motive for the shooting has not been established.
Friday investigators said the detained gunman was possibly defending Vaughn.. Today JPD Sgt. Jeffery Scott says witnesses at the scene gave police conflicting statements about the shooting.
Police are awaiting the completion of Jenkins' 's autopsy to determine if charges will be filed against the unidentified gunman.
