Some Jackson residents are getting complete home makeovers thanks to the Jackson Medical Mall Foundation.
Today volunteers from Americorp and the foundation kicked off their "Raise the Roof" campaign at a home on Memphis Street. The house belongs to Sandra Clay, who recently lost her husband and is now battling stomach cancer. She has lived in the home for years without insulation.
Volunteers are fixing that along with giving her a new roof, new sheet rock, and new wood paneling.
Amia Edwards, Jackson Medical Mall Foundation, "Its so hard to become a homeowner especially in these times and when you've worked so hard to become a homeowner we definitely want to help you keep your home in good shape so you will still want to come home."
Three more homes will be fixed this week.
Since the campaign started in 2003, 15 Jackson homeowners have received makeovers from the medical mall foundation.
