MOBILE, AL (WLBT) - We're a week and a day away from a groundbreaking presidential election. And, if you believe a new poll, a lot of Mississippians are still undecided about whom to elect.
The Mobile Press Register and the University of South Alabama polled 405 registered, likely Mississippi voters by phone. They found 46% support Republican John McCain's bid for the White House. 33% of respondents say they will vote for Democrat Barack Obama.
In another closely-watched race, Republican Senator Roger Wicker drew 45% support against Democrat Ronnie Musgrove's 32%. Other surveys suggest a much tighter race.
The poll also reports that about one-third of black respondents said they were undecided, or declined to answer, or said they are voting for someone else.
