Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together oil and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Stir in molasses. Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and ginger and stir until well combined, adding more flour as necessary to make a firm dough. Shape into 1 inch balls and place 3 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and tops crackle.
