Search underway for home invasion suspects

Jackson police are looking for two men in connection with a home invasion last Wednesday.

One of them is 19-year-old Marquis Charleston. He was arrested for another home invasion in August of 2007, when he and another teenager were accused of breaking into a woman's house and stealing her purse and car.

Acting on a tip, police converged on a house on Verbena Street in south Jackson Wednesday. Officers did not have a "no-knock" warrant, and no one answered the door -- so they left.

Police believe Charleston is one of two men who broke into 88-year-old Prentiss Burnham's home in south Jackson last week. The home invaders aimed a gun at Burnham and stole his car. Burnam says police did find his car, but never called. He says they did not take fingerprints at the house, "To me they haven't handled it so good. I was looking for someone to come out here. It might be they got so many cases they can't come."

Jackson police originally filed Burnham's case as a "house burglary" and "auto theft" -- instead of an armed home invasion.
