BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - Courtney Beasley scored 19 points and was one of five Southern Miss players to score in double figures in a 78-59 win over Ole Miss on Tuesday night. Beasley notched a double-double, also grabbing 10 rebounds. Jeremy Wise scored 17 points, R.L. Horton had 14, Craig Craft added 13 and Andre Stephens chipped in with 10 for the Golden Eagles (9-4).
It was the first win for Southern Miss over Ole Miss since Dec. 22, 1994, and gives the Golden Eagles a five-game winning streak going into Conference USA play on Jan. 7.
David Huertas led the Rebels (8-5) with 23 points. Ole Miss trailed by one point at the break, but Southern Miss outscored the Rebels 40-22 in the second half.
The Golden Eagles shot 50 percent from the field (14 of 28) in the second half, compared to just 18.2 percent (4 of 22) for the Rebels in the half.
