Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin said three people were arrested in Bryam Monday night in a big drug bust.
McMillin identified those charged as 37-year-old Marshall Keith Watkins, 31-year-old Derrick Horne, and 33-year-old Elizabeth Bridges. He said they were charged with 17 felony counts of possession of controlled substances, while possessing firearms.
Six guns were confiscated - semi automatic pistols, a derringer, and a .243 New England Firearms rifle.
Investigators said thousands of dollars worth of illegal drugs and prescription drugs were taken at 311 Willowbay Drive in Byram east of I-55.
In a separate case McMillin also revealed that a Jackson fireman, James Henry McCaffery, has been arrested for felony aggravated assault in a domestic abuse case in Byram.
The sheriff had to leave the news conference because one of his deputies was injured in a wreck on I-55, just south of St. Dominic's Hospital. McMillin identified her as 40-year-old Ann Hutchins, a paralegal and investigator. Her 1999 Nissan Pathfinder rolled three times, after hydroplaning in heavy rain. She has a broken leg and other non life-threatening injuries
